Butler County Health Department currently employs approximately 175 employees in a wide range of occupations.
We staff positions in many areas including:
- In-Home Workers
- Clerical Staff
- Nursing Staff
- Nutritionist
- Health Educator

- Environmental Public Health Specialist
- Custodial
Applications for In-Home Workers are accepted on a daily basis. All other positions will be announced in the Daily American Republic once an opening is available.
In-Home Worker: provides in-home care to the elderly and disabled. The worker performs housekeeping chores and personal care chores. We have positions in five counties: Butler, Carter, Reynolds, Ripley and Wayne.
Clerical Staff: We have clerical staff in many areas of the health department including: WIC, reception, billing and in-home departments.
Nursing Staff: We have nursing staff in both public health and in-home departments.
Nutritionist: There is a nutritionist in the WIC department. The nutritionist consults with participants of the WIC program and plans classes for the participants to attend.
Health Educator: The health educator covers both Butler and Ripley counties. This position is responsible for promoting health education and disease prevention in schools and other community organizations.
Administration: The health department has an administration staff in various positions including: Administrator, Financial Manager, Program Director and Human Resources.
Environmental Public Health Specialist: This position provides sanitation inspection of schools, restaurants, grocery stores and lodging establishments and provides consultation on sewage systems and private water supply.
Custodial: provides custodial services for the building and surrounding area.
